Hey
Windows phone 8.1 announcement made me curious about what features it will have in public release.
But the biggest question to be answered is that will it support the largest and most popular os Windows
7.As developers know it not very comfortable to use Windows, support for 7 will certainly increase development on the Microsoft platform.

yes it is !! You could use windows phone 8.1 sdk on windows 7!! Good luck buddy///1

I don't think they will made it available for windows 7
windows 8.1 is the latest OS by Microsoft and releasing an sdk for the fastest, latest OS would be a better move , since windows phone 8 &8.1 have live tiles and developers can create live apps for windows 8 and test them

But we can still develop apps for windows phone 8.1 using windows 7 , just download the windows phone sdk 7.8. I think when you submit the apps you can choose target version either 8 or 8.1. The xap will be upgraded for windows phone 8 or 8.1.

That might be true, but if you target an app for Windows Phone 7.8, it will only have support for QVGA resolution. I really doubt the sdk will support Windows 7. Besides needing Hyper-V for the emulator, I don't think Windows 7 has all of the libraries you would need for development.

That is why they mentioned the option to target WP8.
