Will you upgrade to Windows 10 pro?

I will actually give Windows 10 S a real good go as I'm quite interested to see the started performance and battery life increase. Also I would like to see for myself whether I actually need any non-Windows Store app to do the kinds of things I want to do. Always open to a new experience. How you you?

I will hold off on upgrading to Windows 10 Pro for as long as I can. Mostly on my notebook, I do mostly emails, web browsing and photo processing which the new Story Remix app will also let me do since it's a UWP app.

Definitely, thee are just too many good reasons I need the full OS, including backing up to my windows home server, using audacity, steam games, etc.

Depends what I get the device for. If it's just for random use maybe not but if I use for work af all id have to update to pro.

If Visual Studio and Adobe CC don't come soon to the Windows Store then yes, I will be upgrading to Pro the moment I get my hands on a device with W10 S.

I might....

I will give 10S a fair shake and go from there..

Does anyone know if we can do the free upgrade just to get the Win 10 Pro license and then roll back to 10S?

I'd give Windows 10 S a shot for a while and see how it would suit my needs. Really depends on programs I would need for my masters that I'm taking online but I have the sneaking suspicion I would upgrade to pro for win32 programs and steam. But if itunes can come to the windows store, anything is possible!

I mean it would be just silly not to upgrade!!! you can always limit Windows 10 Pro to not install anything other that apps coming from the store. AND IT'S FREE. Why wouldn't you?!?!?!?!

Hmmm.... Well, I would definitely upgrade to Windows 10 pro, because why not? I am a student myself and I am into serious programming and I need to install so many IDE's to work, use more than one Virtual Machine and run app packages in Hyper-V in addition to a lot of browsers and other apps that are not available on the windows store. And as @AlexKullmer says, IT'S FREE!!! At least until this December.

Probably. While I would love to keep the performance side and I think it's going to be really stellar, I have too much software (including IDEs and such because I'm teaching myself to code, and Steam games) that I use regularly that wouldn't be curated by the Store.
My wife might not have the same problem though. She'd probably love the ease and speed of W10S!

I'd make the jump to Pro most definitely, because why wouldn't you? But I might give S a go for a while. Just to see exactly how it works for me. Eventually though I'd need Visual Studio.

If I had a Surface Laptop, I certainly would. I do not see any advantage to sticking with Windows 10 S. That's the problem with it: there's little, if any, advantage to sticking with it. It might be a bit safer, but if you're careful, you won't have huge problems with malware. I'm feeling fairly secure now, using my copy of Windows 10 Home Edition. My most used software originates from non Windows Store origins. I use reputable programs from companies like Adobe and Google along side a healthy selection of Microsoft products--programs which wouldn't be available to me if I limited myself to Windows 10 S. No, I wouldn't hesitate at all. Windows 10 S would last all of 2 minutes on my Surface Laptop.

Personally would use Windows 10S for a day max, then would upgrade. Mostly because I have antivirus programs I can buy and regularly update.

Hopefully the windows 10 OS also comes in home premium and not just pro version.

Yes. Of course. I study marketing design and I should work with Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator and so on. It is the obvious reason why I will upgrade my laptop to Win 10 Pro. Also, why not? It is FREE?
