Windows 10 - Cortana via voice never connects to internet via Wi-Fi?

I upgraded to Win 10 from Win 8.1 on my Dell XPS18 this AM. The PC has no cable, just Wi-Fi. I can type questions and get results from Cortana. But when I speak, and the words are parsed correctly, she thinks and always comes back saying she can't connect right now and to try later. Any pointers?
