Windows 10 Desktop - Disk Peformance at 100% active

Hello,

My desktop has been acting very slow lately. When I check task manager, under processes Disk says 50%
When I check the performance tab it says 100% active.

This happens upon boot up, then calms down - takes about 15 minutes.

When I check resource monitor, the disk section - AppData\Local\Temp\tmpozq...
is has a total byte transfer of about 3-7 million bytes/second. This the one I see the most

There are other disk tasks also taking up active time but they move up and down much quicker.

CPU is at about 9%
Memory is at about 33%

During this time - my computer is basically frozen.

Suggestions?

possibly infected. run some deep anti-malware scans. if you've installed anything recently, try uninstalling it and test again.

try booting into safe mode and disabling startup items.

Are you running Hyper-V with some virtual machines running?

Windows.WARP.JITservice x10 doesn't sound right.

Also you could check for a virus without installing a bunch of tools which sometimes can bypass a scanner which the process can block:

Couple of things...

Disable superfetch: https://www.bing.com/search?q=disab...124F8353774448A61A2E8E3AF86158&FORM=QBLH&sp=1 Most users don't need it and it can turn into a resource hog.

Check your OneDrive. I once had a super slow computer and found that it was due to OneDrive attempting to backup my entire 400+GB of data on my PC to my 30GB OneDrive Account. You should set it not to sync anything (or very minimal folders). What I want on OneDrive, I manually put on OneDrive. I have it disabled from running at startup as well.

Got iTunes? It really seems to suck up a lot of CPU/RAM/HDD activity. My wife has it and there are a couple of processes that run rampant from time to time. Prevent it at startup and watch for an iPod process that is greedy.

A really good virus/malware can load so low level in the OS that it can be invisible to a virus scanner.

An Offline scan removes the OS from the equation and boots from a CD (with it's own unchangeable OS), or in the case of the Windows 10 one, reboots into an alternative dedicated scanner, using digital signing to validate it is not compromised, and can then scan below the OS. Thus making it almost impossible for a virus to hide from the scan.

A scan on a live system is not guaranteed to be accurate.
A scan using the offline scanners is.

tried it - nothing negative.

I installed process explorer. While the computer is slow still, cpu is low.
Would I/O slow things down?
What should I be looking at delta I/O
Or look at network?
