Well, you can always roll back to 8.1 and than upgrade directly to 004 or be patient, wait, restart phone, try again, some people reports that it actually downloading update although it shows 0% and than switch from 0% to 96% or so....Haven't got it yet. 10 long hours and downloading still stuck at 0%. I've got 8mbps broadband, got more than 2gb left in phone memory. I dont know what the problem is.
I was on 10512 and directly upgraded first to 10536.1000 and then10536.1004.
Took almost 3 hrs. I can see few improvements its much stable and responsive. People app wouldn't show tiles in previous build now its showing. Only thing is no notifications for outlook mail and normal messaging app which tiresome. Also while changing accent color the settings get crashed.

You have to enable notifications in the actual outlook app itself
When you update directly from 10512, does any of the data disappear? Like messages or content or whatsapp messages?

This build is a lot faster on my phone too.
The "no notifications" thing was noted as a known issue in one specific case ("After rebooting your phone, you won't see notifications, such as new messages, until you unlock your phone. After that, you should see notifications for new messages just fine."). Maybe you've found another way it fails.
I think it just means that any time you reboot your phone, you won't get notifications until after you unlock it for the first time.I am sorry but I didn't quite get this "until you unlock your phone. After that, you should see notifications for new messages just fine.")
