Windows 10 Transparent Tiles on Phones

Lol, laughed at doge meme.

i like the new start screen. It will be really nice, just we need really transparent tiles.
On other side, not so sure if I like the UI of universal apps. They seem to lack the ease of use we have now, that hamburger button..I don't like it, but it really unifies the UI with desktop version... maybe it'll be better if they change hamburger with something else, like ... or pizza :D
Seriously, they need to but that icons and commands on top of app to the bottom, they are making hard to use phone one handed.

If it's linked to iOS or Android, people here hate it...that's the reason people hate the hamburger icon. I personally don't care. It has no effect on how I use an app.

Anyways, I'm digging the background image. I hope there's still an option to keep it as is as well. Always good to have a few options.

I will install it on m ativ s first and maybe later on my lumia 1020 if stable enough.
But I love it ho it looks.

Microsoft impressed me today on a positive way and I can't wait till win 10 is finished and running on all my devises.
2015 looks to become a great year for my hardware. :-)

It was a great presentation by MS. However, they could have demoed interactive live tiles. Dunno if they would be in the final build but they can really make the whole live tile concept come alive. MS Research already has showcased it during the WP 8.0 days where actions would seamlessly transfer from PC to Phone and vice versa.

The preview was that...a preview. It wasn't meant to go heavy duty into everything about the OS and what not. It was meant to touch on the most important features and aspects(which it did).

Stuff like interactive tiles are great but not necessarily game changing and we'll probably see that in either
A. The Preview
B. MWC
C. Build

Same here, I dont understand what all the fuss is about?
And I would also prefer keeping the background image as option....I prefer my tiles opaque, on a white or black bg.

I love how you make it sound like we're fans crying over nothing.

It has less to do with the fact that it is IOS/Android esque. It's the fact that people fear Windows phone/Windows 10 is losing its identity and the unique aspects that made us choose it over the big two. I can certainly agree and understand that.

The OS has lost some windows phone 7 qualities to make it more android/IOS like and it is a copycat in some ways...and guess what? Doing so really hasn't done much for people to get one.

It's less of the IOS/Android thing and more because people actually WANT a unique OS that is different from the others and bringing in enough muscle(aka features) without compromising on its original vision.

Maybe I am one of those who just want to get my job done. It is true, I switched to WP for its induviduality and uniqueness, but at this point, being able to use the OS AND get my job done, is like a win-win for me.
Although I won't disagree that gradually minimalizing the Metro UI is not going to be benificial for microsoft in the long run...they can't find a spot between Consistency and Deliverance, and continuously keep changing too much **** at one, which I think the average Joe doesn't want.
So in short, yes. Getting rid of the Metro UI will affect both existing and new users. But there still are people, who just stay on the platform for the sole reason for supporting it, plus getting their job done, Like me.

Can anyone please tell me why the hate for the Hamburger icon everywhere? I don't get the idea...

Because for lots of us it is ugly. But, more important it changes how things are done in wp. For now you had easy navigation , you've had to pivot/slide or bring bottom navbar to bring options or so. Now, you'll have to reach with your hand (assuming most people are right handed) to far upper left, to choose options and you won't see more than half of your screen. That's just wrong when you had so simple ui.
Yes you can use it two handed burt is complicated with this.

However I can survive that hamburger buttom, just if they bring it to the bottom or integrate it in bottom navbar. It would be much easier that way.

I'm loving what I'm seeing so far. The proper background image, interactive tiles, new settings menu, notifications, OUTLOOK - it all looks fantastic and super-productive.

What is the preview app called? I can't find it in the store!

I first was disappointed because the black theme and parallax background were replaced in the new UI (but maybe it is still an option in final build) but Joe didn't use the transparent tiles in the live preview. When I saw the screenshots on the windows 10 demo websites I thought it really looks gorgeous! Also the start menu on W10 for desktop etc. can ben transparent and looks beautiful and really in sync with W10 for phones because of that.

It would be really a shame if the iconic bottom icon/setting bar is going to be removed in the entire UI. I always found it far more intuitive than everything similar on iOS and android in terms of opening settings. already 4 options that were in handy for that page, they can disappear so it takes up less space, and the options can be tapped both left and right on the settings bar, and everything can be operated with one hand because everything is at the bottom on the screen. The Hamburger Menu indeed is a downgrade. I already found it awkward in the new OneDrive app...

The bottom navigation bar always looks rather "tacky" to me. IE I hate having to tap the refresh button to check mail, pullng down to reresh is a way smoother gesture as you can do it anywhere on the screen. And as for the hamburger icon, this menu is often expanded with a left-to-right swipe in the Android ecosystem. Meaning you don't HAVE to tap the icon. Only issue I would see is if Microsoft decides to implement launching the task view with a left-to-right swipe in Windows Phone. Microsoft is learning to take what has almost become a "standard", and with HTML5 and Google app designs, the hamburger icon is pretty common. And unfortunaltely for Microsoft, they are in no position to try and create their own app layouts and try to say what is and isn't intuituve after the disaster known as Windows 8. A familiar layout may give developers one more reason to go ahead and spend the extra time to port their iOS or Android app over to Windows Phone.

Also, remember..these apps are meant to truly give a seamless and familiar experience on all devices...including mouse & keyboard desktop users. The hamburger icon is familar to users in other exosystems and essentially functions as a "File" menu for desktop users. This is the best direction Microsoft could possibly take right now.

Just one thing: Will all app tiles be transparent in W10 or just some of them and must be decided by developers?

I think there should be an option for users to choose to follow developers decision or follow users own tastes. I don't want to keep using Transparent Tiles app >.< Cause that doesn't provide users notification and information on tile :( Not to mention just in a selection of apps

Meanwhile, I was thinking about "Burst Tiles" feature that was reported a few days back. Not sure, if its already implemented with W10 build.
