Windows 10: why is my Free upgrade online activation failing?

Windows 10 Free upgrade online activation failing

Everything seemed fine until I tried to make sure it activated.. then I got an error... and I have a code that matches several posted questions, however the descriptions / details they are posting ARE NOT.

Ive tried digging around a bit and these are the details I have -
when it displays my product key -

Current Product Key: *****-3V66T
then I get error when I click the activate button.
Error details gives me : 0xC004F034
Digging a bit more I found this with the slmgr from the command line.
Name: Windows(R), Professional Edition
Description: Windows(R) Operating System, RETAIL channel
Partial Product Key: 3V66T
License Status: Notification
Notification Reason 0xC004F034

I'm on day 4 of the activation issue. There are several threads MSFT site about people dealing with this and seems MSFT is just giving people the run around at this point. Really annoying and not sure what else to do.
