For anyone else wondering if Windows 8 Enterprise will install on the Surface Pro. The answer is yes. We use direct access at work, so it would just be awesome to have on the Surface Pro. No reason to have a laptop anymore.

Its as easy as just running the installer.

Windows 8 Enterprise, installed on the Surface Pro.

You can find all the drivers in the "system32" folder in the "windows.old" folder.

Did you actually do an upgrade or a new install? Wouldn't an upgrade keep all the existing drivers?

According to this link, it looks like you should be able to unless there is something special about the Surface that doesn't allow it.

Upgrade from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8 Enterprise

You can upgrade from Standard to Pro, from earlier versions of Windows to Pro but you cannot upgrade to Enterprise. What it will do is re-install the OS and put your old OS files in Windows.old. There is no way to "upgrade" in the sense that it will keep your apps and data like a traditional upgrade would.

The Upgrade Path does not exist.

Why would anyone wonder this. The Surface Pro is a PC.

Well according the lame naming convention they chose this would be "Surface for Windows 8 Enterprise" or "Surface Enterprise." It sounds vaguely like "Starship Enterprise." I wonder if it will beam me up...
