windows Messenger problem

i have added windows ids of my friends in my phone, however, i cant seem to send msg on windows messenger... i can see only one person on messenger.. i cant seem to find other contacts. I can send only email to their windows account but no messenger. why is it so? we have added emails correctly in each others phones... i can contact one person on messenger but not others. is there something we have to activate in our accounts?

You're going to have to actually add them on messenger first. Like how back in the day when you had to add someone on MSN, pretty much the same thing, just it's Skype now.
