Windows phone 8.0 storage problem.

Hey I have a Lumia 520. I have storage problem as I am running out of space. I have checked in storage check to see what's eating my space, and it is "other" category. Can someone help me on how to free up my space?

Semi-related, are you up-to-date?

It's a common problem, especially with older WP8 versions. (do you have media on the phone, moving it to an SD card is simplest)

There are some other options I think, but I haven't experienced any of them.

Other shouldn't be a problem after Update 3. When you go to extra+info, what is the name at the top? Amber or Black?

I would personally suggest updating to 8.1. Buy a 16GB SD card and BAM, you'll have tripled your storage since you can install pretty much anything to the SD card in 8.1.

I have not much media stuff on my phone. I have an SD card where I keep all my media.

I am on Lumia Black. But I have not updated to the 8.1 preview. Im afraid if something goes wrong with my phone I won't be able to send it for repairs. My apps have built alot of memory also. And the temporary files do not actually delete everytime I tried that.

I think i will eventually resort to that. But then I see MS is finally rollin out Cyan. Im in Africa I wonder when it will be available here lol
