Welcome to WPC you can install apps to SD it wasn't mention at build since there was alot to go through during the presentation but this blog has the some of the main features mentioned including moving apps to SD:

Cortana (yes!) and Many, Many Other Great Features coming in Windows Phone 8.1

Hey Vishal, in WP 8.1 you will be able to choose exactly what is stored on your phone or on your SD card! Great news!

Nope! Class 4 is not gonna work!
You Need at least class 6 or above. And class 10 is recommended.!

that's correct. i am wondering how to check my own existing card, which class it belongs to?
so that, if required, i can get it replaced before update.

Nope! Class 4 is not gonna work!
You Need at least class 6 or above. And class 10 is recommended.!

But class 10 is not supported in lumia 720, 620 & 520

yeah.
my card is SanDisk SDHC (U1) which is equivalent to class 10.
so there is no need to hurry to upgrade it.
but i think eventually i am gonna need it in some time, as my current card is only 8 GB.
