Windows Phone 8.1 - Changing "from" names in Outlook app.

I'm in the process of learning to use my brand new 640 XL. I'm having a simple problem with the Outlook app & account. As I set up the phone I had to create a Microsoft Account, which in turn created my new Outlook email account. I entered my real name (first name & surname) and now when I send an outlook email, the recipient sees my real name too.

I want to change the "from" name (not to be confused with email address/username!) of emails I send from my phone.

Using my laptop and by signing in to my Outlook with IE, I have sucessfully changed those 'names' (NOT to be confused with my email/username!) and now outlook emails sent using my LAPTOP and IE are also sending recipients my changed names (instead of my real full "from" name, I use a simple anonymous nick).

BUT sending emails from my outlook app on my 640XL phone still send the recipient my full name!! Why is this, and how can I change them to a new "from" nickname? I see no settings to do so on my 640XL.

Can anyone help?

I think what you're referring to is the Microsoft Account profile name, and I couldn't find a way through the Outlook app to edit or sync it. Perhaps this profile name gets embedded in the app when the Outlook account is first setup on the phone, which I hope is not true since that would mean you would have to reset your phone and initialize it with the Microsoft account again.

Thanks to someone in India, this clever person has solved this problem.

The trick is to understand that the Outlook app feeds all profile data from your main internet account (Microsoft Account / Outlook Account). There are NO settings on your Lumia phone to change your profile, which is strange because Microsoft have not made it clear (or certainly not to first time users!) that your main 'Microsoft Account' profile which can be accessed through your web browser, controls all your MS apps, including Outlook.

Using a web browser, sign in to your Outlook email account. Then click on your name in the top right corner to reach the menu to manage your profile etc etc. Then simply change your profile name(s) in either both or one of your name fields (first name, surname) and then click Done!
Then, sign out of your account, and close your browser.
Then the important step...! RESTART your Lumia phone (which also refreshes and reconnects your Outlook app). Send a test Outlook email from your phone to someone, or yourself.
Sometimes, it can take just a little longer for apps to update settings, so be patient if no name change is applied to emails. It worked for me.
