Windows phone 8.1 Support

Is it true that Microsoft is going to end support for windows phone 8.1 by July 2017 ?
If yes, then what about phones which are not upgradable to windows 10 mobile ( Like Lumia 525 ) ?

I believe that is true.

Then those phones will remain on WP8.1 and not much will change, except some backend stuff might break. Otherwise it probably won't be that different day-to-day.
