Hello everyone,

are there any news if the Lumia 920 will get the Upgrade for Windows Phone Blue / 8.1 / 9 / whatever ?
One of the things that are better in iOS compared to Android is the Update-History. I really make my decisions depending on how Microsoft it going with this.
If Apple is the only one serving Updates for older devices, I probably should choose iPhone in future?
What do you think?

It will get 8.1. That said, carriers still have to approve it.

Microsoft has publicly stated that all Windows Phone 8 handsets will be supported for 36 months from time of release - hardware dependent of course. So any updates that would appear in that 36 month timeframe can be expected. In the case of the 920 I would expect another 2 years of software updates for certain, after that it would be a wait and see scenario.

As indicated above though, the carriers have to approve the build. This is not so bad for us in Canada apparently, at least compared to what everyone is saying about AT&T for our friends to the south. I have received all our L920 updates almost as soon as they have been released.

Never buy a phone based on future updates. Even iPhones. Never buy any gadget based on future updates, actually...

That said, since Nokia has released the multiple phones since the 920, why you still interested in that one? 925/928, 1020 and soon to be 929 and 1520 are all incredible devices, or will be. If you're really concerned with future proofing yourself, I'd really opt for one of the newer quad cores or the 1020 with its 2GB RAM. At least you know it won't be hardware you'll be limited on.

Then, if you're on ATT, all bets are off. My HTC Titan was put to sleep with the same OS/firmware it was born with. :pissed:
