Not 100% if this is the right section to post this so i apologies incase .

So i orginaly had a HTX 8X on release but after some issues with battery and apps returned it. But have always keep a eye on windows 8 OS and apps available and now i can see what i need is available and just makes sense to go windows phone 8 being i have windows 8 PC , Laptop and Tablet so a phone makes perfect sense

What would you guys recommend as a replacement for what im using now which is a nexus 5 . I use it for general use Internet , Banking i use it for invoicing for work sometimes if i have not got my tablet listen to music on Deezer and calls, text, facebook and twitter

Looking at a lot of the phones available the only worry i seem to have is Screen my nexus 5 has a 4.95-inch 1920 x 1080 445ppi i don't mind going to a 4.5" or even upto the 6" size but want to keep a nice clear picture quality on the phone . Processor and ram i know is lower on most windows phone but i also know it requires a lot less then android

So any insight would be helpful may some one has both a windows phone and Nexus 5 or some has changed from a similar phone with a HD screen like a S4 or HTC One to a windows phone

Thanks in advance

Chris

For you I would recommend the 930 :) But also check out the 1020 and 1520

Dont go on WP from N5 , i really love WP and im on L920 8.1 advanced user ... And im considering to go N5 ..

I have a G2 and a N5 I hardly use both now sense getting the 1520. Once you get used to WP you wont go back. As far as performance its faster then both my G2 and N5 both on custom kernels.

I agree with @DaT.. There are very few people that actually want to leave after coming to WP.. Give it a proper chance and WP might surprise you
DaT is using the 1520 which is an awesome phone. That's why I recommended it as well (the 930 is the 1520's little brother, but it is little only in screen size lol)

But a 920 specs and screen are lower than a N5 ... i was looking at 930,1520 or maybe a 1320

When comparing Windows phone vs Android the only thing you should be comparing is what the OS offers (apps, usability, etc.), you should not be bringing in hardware at all since even the cheapest Windows phone would beat the highest end Android in most of the daily basic tasks (except opening particular apps)

i did say hardware did not matter but as in cpu ram etc as i know WP is better and needs no where near the specs android needs ... But and screen is a major part of hardware where it would matter as you can tell the difference easily and if you are used to a HD

Trust us and me my 1520 walks all over my g2 and n5 both of which I have flashed custom kernels and have done a lot of build prop tweaks. My Java scores are 470 for the 1520 and high 600 for the n5. Ram on WP is a non issue, when you close out an app its closed, none of that needing titanium backup to freeze apps you don't want running in the background. The icon and 1520 is grossly over powered 😏 and battery life destroys the G2 and it has dam good life itself. One thing I can tell you is try a Wp give it an honest week, don't flip flop, stick with it for a week and I bet you will keep it.

As far as the screen its very close, you will have a hard time telling the difference and with WP you can adjust the color temp and and saturation.

Cheers @DaT i think im going to order the 1520 its only ?360 on amazon SIM Free and if i really don't like it which i doubt there returns are great ... Only other thing is with office on windows mobile especially excel can you save as PDF as i like to invoice then email a invoice ... Not a deal break as i have the Asus Note 8 which i use for it now but be even better if i could just use my 1520

Thanks mrdnauk, its an awesome phone! on the PDF thing maybe someone else can chime in, I don't mess with it much so I couldn't answer that one.

Ordered it this morning and with amazon prime i will get it tomorrow . use it for a week and if happy il stick my Nexus 5 on ebay should get ?200-?250 for it so should help offset the ?360

Size wise how do you find it caring it around in your pocket etc as is pretty big ?

Also if anyone can help from the UK subway app see it says London but i take it thats the order fuction it can still be used elsewhere in the UK for the Subcard ??

It takes some getting used too but its not bad, I have big hands and have owned the note one and two so im used to big phones. Back and front pocket is no worries unless you're a skinny jeans 👖 type.

To update you guys i know have a Nokia 1520 :) Loving the phone adapting pretty quickly to it and has the apps i need available. Just need to get a descent wallet case for it got a ?5 one at the moment

I am disappointed about the save as PDF not being a option and the robbing so in (explicit word here) at adobe wanting to charge me ?7.32 a month for the pleasure of converting word excel to pdf but that's not a flaw in the phone or OS that's more a issue Microsoft need to sort especially if your paying for 365 business

I actually had opposite experience.

After using WP8 first time and then switching to Android for first time........I felt same.
Hardware is not at all an issue in general but apps and games are too poor.

I replaced my L920 for Nexus 5 few weeks ago. I still can't stop crying. Despite resolution Lumia's display is far better than N5's Just can't wait L930 to be released to go back on WP with the speed of lightning.
