Windows Update Branch

While looking at the Windows Update for Windows 10 I wanted to select the Fast ring however something appeared at the bottom of it as well.

Apparently they're multiple branches to choose from (for now it's stuck on fbl_awesome) so I'm wondering what's the big deal with these branches?

Now I've tried searching the forums first but found nothing so if this was posted before I apologize.

I think awesome is the slow ring, because that stops my updates. There's one called Release, though.

No I don't think so. I was on slow ring then switched to fast ring however that was displayed the whole time.

I must be confused, because that's how it worked in 9879.
