Windows10 (all platforms) will always be beta?

This is based on sth that just popped into my mind after having to read through yet another "Rant thread".

MS has said that for PC's w10 is the final stop. There won't be a new windows, at least not in the classical sense, that we've grown to like/dislike. They also said that the innovation doesn't stop, instead we can look forward to "simple" updates to the OS. "Treshold" and the cumulative updates, we've seen so far are perfect examples.

In that case it looks like w10 is also the last stop for phones, tablets, xbox, bands (not so much for the band) etc..

In one way or another we'll all still be working with software that has glitches, that has the potential to be better with the next update?

Even after the launch of w10, non-insiders are having issues (veterans expected that), but isn't just that, driving some away?

Theoretically, the state of being in a developmental phase can be referred to as "beta", but it would not be wise to keep it named that way forever (just like Instagram BETA (for Windows Phone 8.1)).

I'm at 50/50: installed Windows 10 from my almost three-year old laptop (i5, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD - pretty decent for the age) from Windows 7 and the performance and features have been greatly improved. However, for my newer i7 (eight logical processors/effective octacore) 8GB RAM and faster HDD (up to 70MB/s), I simply had to roll back to Windows 8.1. Windows 10 wasn't as fast as I expected it to be in a really fast machine. There were a lot of snags, lags, and app-freezing issues, and the academic software I need to run won't.

I guess the only difference between the previous preview phase and the current sort-of beta phase is that the releases now are a lot more stable and reliable. We may and should expect future updates that would make Windows 10 better (reliability, speed, etc.), since that's what the whole idea of Windows 10. Right now, some may be driven away (like what I had to do with my new PC), but I think majority of those in Windows 10 are and will be happy to stay.

Those who want to live long should think long-term. Those who don't want to live long should be considerate to those who want to live long.

I think it's a good idea by Windows. They see the competition from other bands and platforms, so they can't keep selling completely new versions of their software, they do updates all the time like iOS for example. However, they should be calling big updates something else IMO.

I know a few 7.5 and 8.1 users who would say that constantly reinventing, is a pain :p But you have a valid point, if it doesn't work, it should be changed or at least adjusted
