Worth Buying?

Is the Lumia 820 still a decent phone? I can often find them under $100 used and for the specs it seems worth it. I have a Lumia 630 and like the phone but the ram sometimes give me problems with certain apps. Would this phone be a decent replacement? I'm not a cell phone gamer so I'm not sure if the heating and battery problems I hear about with this phone will effect me.

I say yes, considering the price.

It's a well-rounded phone for the price and I would take it over the 630 given the choice.
Do note battery life isn't as great, but you can get spare batteries.

No widespread heat issues I am aware of outside normal use.

Alright thanks, about the heat I just noticed a few threads in this forum about it and I thought it was an issue. Thanks for clearing that up.

I wanted to buy that phone but bought Ativ S instead. If you aren't heavy user and battery life isn't critical point, you can go with it without doubt.

As a 820 user for the past two years I can tell you its an excellent phone. Mine has never had to reboot itself or crash in the two years I have owned it. The only negative about the phone is the small 1650 battery. But as a note I have adveraged one day and 13 hours per charge which is pretty fair in my opinion. I have passed on quite a few phones I had thought about upgrading to (925,830, 920) and it is still my main phone. I will look at the 640/640XL when they come out and see if one of them can finally replace my 820. 830 was a good selection; but for the price they are asking it was not much of an upgrade. 640/640XL seem much more affordable though they are in the same league as the 820/830. If not I will keep the 820 even longer. Have never had a single heating issue with the 820, or any other problem for that matter. I am going to have a hard time finding another phone that has been as reliable as the 820.

Well I've had the phone for about a week and overall it's been a great choice. Resuming screens are rare, the overall OS is even smoother, I like the sound customization options, being able to use the screen with gloves is useful and videos taken with the main camera look great. I only have two cons. The main camera for pictures is surprisingly not that big of an upgrade over the 630. Colors seem a little faded compared to my digital cameras and even the Lumia 630. The last thing would be the battery life, it really is as bad as most people say lol. Browsing the web and having bluetooth on listening to music seem to really drain it. It's too bad Nokia messed up there because this is a great phone.

ah good to hear its been mostly pleasant

at least you can pick up a replacement or maybe even an extended battery

Just pick you up a spare battery. They are easy to change and not very expensive.
