I am thinking of buying Lumia 735 when it comes out, but i am scared becasue if i buy it and when WP 10 comes out(6-10 months later) and its not upgradable i am going to be very disappointed. I was searching for an answer on the internet but i got nothing. So does any one knows something about that? Thanks.

No one knows apart from Microsoft, plus we don't even know what Windows 10 brings to phones. Just buy what you want today that meets your needs.

I def agree with just buying what meets your needs now. I read that all Windows 8 & 8.1 phones will get Windows 10, but we're just gonna have to wait to see what is officially announced. I wouldn't let it keep me from buying a new phone I wanted now. Enjoy!

As someone that is still waiting on WP8.1 I wouldn't hold my breath. It's quit possible it wil be upgradable but will the service provider and Microsoft actually release it. I would just get what you need now and be content. If they release an upgrade then Bonus for you!

Think about your needs at the moment. If you really require the Lumia 735 then go for it. If you feel you can wait patiently for Windows 10 phones to get released then you can wait. No one besides Microsoft knows if current WP8.1 phones will be upgradeable to Windows 10.

I would say just go and get a phone or else the wait will never end. 6-10 months down the line when your going to buy a Windows 10 phone MS might reveal Windows 11 and then again you'll be caught up in this vicious circle.

I am not sure.
all currently windows phone 8 device include L520,620,720.... upgradable to windows 10.
you just wait for Microsoft announced the real news.

It's worth noting that Verizon still has not released 8.1, so the chances of getting 10 in a timely fashion may be a slow process.

I'd be surprised if they don't upgrade users - feature upgrades are what gets people excited and talking about the platform.

If any don't I'd expect them to be 512MB units - the budget models - but since Microsoft is on a drive to lower the memory requirements of Windows with every recent release, why not them too.

I personally would like to think so, I am sure Microsoft stated sometime ago, that all WP8 handsets would be upgradeable to Windows Phone 9, so I am assuming the handsets would get Windows 10, but with Microsoft's previous record with WP7, I wouldn't be so sure.

Imo, if the 730/735 becomes the best selling windows phone then rip lumia 5xx and 6xx phones chances of get Windows 10. If not then I'm sure Microsoft will optimise as much as they can. Btw it's still just windows phone but with a few windows features added in, if you look at the one windows picture you can see live folders still there and a picture as the background theme. Instead of a tile background. I don't think much has really changed though. It's still a phone and there are so many budget phones with only 4gb storage anyway smoke it should be too big. But who knows? We will have to wait till build 2015.

Ok I am reading the important notes for Windows 10 technical preview and it states that The Preview is not available for Windows Phone, so I am assuming from what I am reading that 8.1 handsets should be upgradeable to Windows 10.

Microsoft previously announced windows 8 pc upgradable to windows 9 but now windows 8 pc upgradable directly windows 10.
same Microsoft previously announced all currently windows phone 8 device include L520,620.. Upgradable to windows phone 9 but now Microsoft skip wp 9
so I am 70% sure Microsoft release windows 10 for WP 8 users.

I believe current WP8 devices have enough power to run WP9 or 10, so they should be upgradeable.

BTW, either 9 or 10, I think the next major version of WP will bring new features and experiences to user. I just want MS to make cooler phones, and developers to make cooler apps. My 930 is too hot.

The Lumia 1020 could even run the normal PC-Version of Windows 10:

System requirements Windows 10 Technical Preview:

##Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster (Lumia 1020 has 1,5 GHz)

##RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit) (Lumia 1020 has 2 GB)

##Free hard disk space: 16 GB (Lumia 1020 has at least 32 GB Disc Space)

##Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device (Lumia 1020 has DirectX 11)

No. Desktop and mobile processors are totally different.

I know.
But if a then year old PC could run Windows 10. A one year old Phone should do it also. There is no hardware-reason that Windows Phone 8.1 can't upgrade to Windows 10.

I like lance_wpcentral's assessment. This is always going to be a balance. Take the plunge, get the phone you like/best for your needs, enjoy! Life is too short. Nobody knows whether every WP8.1 (let alone native 8.0) device will upgrade to W10.

We did get some assurances that all WP8.0 devices would have an upgrade path but since then, the landscape has changed very dramatically. There are a load more OEMs come on board, Microsoft has since bought Nokia's mobile operation and WP9 doesn't even exist anymore. Who'd have predicted that when WP8.0 was launched?

Just accept
