I went in to a RadioShack and lo and behold what did I see? The Samsung Focus. I'd never seen it before in person and I thought it was very nice. However, they told me it was a clearance item and they were all out. I might try another couple of RadioShacks just to see. I bet she'd like it.

Our plan as of now is to give the Pantech's music app a shot and see if it's easy enough for her to use. If so, I'll get a 16GB microSD card ($10), the headphones for the Pantech ($5), and a Bluetooth FM transmitter ($30) to play the music in her car. She can use AT&T Navigator also included on the Pantech. This meets all four of the original requirements. We can reevaluate things when WP8 devices release later in the year.

I agree with the other users, the Lumia 800 seems to be a perfect fit.

Just what are those "free bluetooth tethering" capabilities she's looking for?

Free BT is something that old features phones used. I was once at work and noticed my computer was running slow, upon checking my network connections, i realized my laptop had magically connected to my phone when the company's wireless system went down. Kind of a cool feature. That was...WM6.1 i think.
