Radio - Removed.
I used to be able to listen to local radio on my phone. Now this is gone?
[Edit: Radio is now a separate app called "FM Radio"]

Play Next - Removed
Was a nice feature to pick a song without having it interrupt your current song. Why remove this?

Static - Added!
Just what we want to hear between tracks: "BZZT!". So much for a relaxing listening experience.

Gapless Playback - MIA
I guess the developers of this app don't consider music to be art.

Local Radio is now a standalone app. Just tap on letter F and there it is.
Sent from my Lumia.

I don't have issues with static. Not sure what your problem might be there.

None of the other issues you mentioned are important "to me", so I'm actually happy with the app...finally. With the performance improvements it's now in a useable state. And, I believe those performance improvements were priority #1 for them, so hopefully they can now look at adding features that you, and others, want. :)

They've mentioned on user voice that they're looking into gapless playback.

I didn't even realize they had a play next function in the old version. I use that in itunes pretty often.

The app had to be rewritten as a standalone app. It will take time for it to get where they want it to be. Even Joe belfire said in retrospect it should have been labeled a beta release at first since I pretty much was. Patience it will get there.
