Anyone figure out how to get our personally owned Movies and Tv Shows that we have ripped, to show up properly in the Xbox Video app? Movies under movies, and TV shows under TV shows under their proper season and in the proper episode order? Something else that worked fine on Zune and is a nightmare in this new Xbox Music and Video garbage.

You need to do it all manually (non store content is just classed as home movies, no way to get it in the movies/tv section)

Create a folder called Movies and put all movies in this, then add that folder into the video app
Now if you go to personal videos in the app you will see a folder called moves with all movies in

similar for TV
create a folder called TV, with subfolders for Shows and then Seasons
add the folder called TV to the video app, then under personal videos you will see a section called TV

No metadata retrieval, but the above splits up the movies/tv shows nicely in it

That's the best way I found of doing it

Music/Video apps such as iTunes did this twenty years ago. Zune did it. I just dont understand why all the Xbox apps are essentially apps that do 10% of what Zune and iTunes does/did.

I have given up on the video app because of this, doing what I mentioned does work, but the app is so far behind anything else around

It looks like MS thinks everyone wants to get content from them and ignore I organisation of local content

There are apps on Windows 8 like Movie Premier and the amazing MediaBox that do this and are great replacements for the garbage video app. Wish they were universal.
