Most apps in the Preview for Developers are not the final version. People must understand that things have changed and things like "Music and Video", that was a system app, now become apps, upgradable apps.

Xbox Music can be upgraded anytime, not like old Music and Video app:

Xbox Music is pretty terrible on Windows Phone 8.1, but an update is near | Windows Phone Central

?Lots of questions about apps? Many 8.1 updates coming (eg Facebook, Skype, Twitter). I don't know dates, sorry. Also, Music app too.?

And the same for most apps, even Games app and maybe pictures app.

Add calendar in the list. I got a new update and it's the best calendar I have tried on mobile OS

Absolutely. Thumbs up for the Calendar app from me too. Just wish
  1. WP Tasks were better integrated with MS Outlook 2007 tasks.
  2. WP Tasks were more sophisticated. Currently recurring tasks are not supported.

an issue worth mentioning about calendar app - you can not change the start day of the week on the weekly view (I've searched on the setting) as the start of the week over here is on Sunday

Whatever complaints it receives, I am pretty impressed with everything. And yea, myself felt that music player and some things are slow and buggy but we cant blame them, this is preview version and not the complete one and so we are like beta testers, we cant expect everything to be perfect. If you want update earlier, then take it or else stick with WP8 and wait for the complete WP 8.1 for months. I am completely satisfied with the update i got in my L520 especially the Cortana.

IMO, Main issue on Music app is the lack of stopping music (not just pausing it) whenever u want without using 3rd person apps. Thats r i d i c u l o u s !
