Windows Central Question

I thought the higher the number the better the camera. My current S5 is a 12 or 16mp and it takes good photos. Will this camera be better or worse?

Who is the "you" to whom you refer? Maybe an article on the blog? Which phone are we talking about?

If it is a Windows Device, check the specific device forum here for a "Pictures and Videos" thread to see samples from real users.

MP is only one part of the picture equation. Other factors include: sensor quality, lens quality, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) or lack thereof, software level control of the camera module, processing algorithms, what camera app is being used for the capture, manual settings vs full auto, etc. etc. etc.

"OK" is a relative term. Some want best quality over all conditions in point and shoot mode using nothing but full-auto. They consider this the standard. Others like to compose their shots and spend a lot of time tweaking settings and choosing between camera apps to get the results they want and raw processing power and total control of variables inside camera is the standard.
