Hello,

I have just purchased my Nokia Lumia 930 as a replacement for my potentially outgoing iPhone 5s but wondered if there were any youtube apps available which can stream at full HD? I know I can do this by using the desktop website but would prefer to use an app if possible?

Thanks!

Actually you might be right. I just tried a few videos and couldn't find a 1080p option. I always just figured the video doesn't support 1080p.

I wonder what the mobile site supports?

It's because Google's limitations. 1080p video streaming splits the video and audio in two separate channels. For non Google's phone the max resolution that you can stream is 720p. I think the limitation it's on the Public API where the developers build their app for WP.

Ah, to be honest I guessed as much. Google really don't like playing nice these days do they. The ironic thing about it all is that if Microsoft did the same things as Google then they would get slaughtered by people! I'll stick to Metrotube and use the desktop site if absolutely necessary! Thanks!

I do see you specifically said for phones. I know my Blackberry Playbook Tablet has had 1080p support for a long time (even though its a 1024x600 screen! Lol), and my Nexus 7 2013 recently got it. My buddy says his Retina iPad Mini has it too, I can't verify.

Keep in mind, there are alot of Android devices that do not have 1080p support! I don't know why its so limited...

Luckily YouTube via browser works decent. Its obviously not a convenient as an App, but...
