I have been trying to figure out how to get my wife and son's Windows Phones to access the Zune Pass without using my Live ID. It seems that Microsoft has done a partial implemention. If I go into Settings on the phone, under music+videos, I can enter my Live ID credentials in the Zune Account Settings link. So now their phone has my credentials but only uses them partially.
From their phone, they can now stream music without a problem. But they cannot download the music; they can only purchase music. They can connect their phone to a PC with the Zune software and sync music from the Marketplace, to their phone, and play it. As long as they sync using the PC every 30 days, they are OK.
I know that I can wipe their phones and do the initial setup with my Live ID. For contact and calendars, that is not a problem as I don't use my Live for that. But I do use Skydrive and Xbox. My son and I like to play Xbox Chess, which won't work if we setup the phones with the same Live ID. It is hard to play when we are both white.
Since they can stream music, my Live ID is working. I don't know why Microsoft doesn't allow them to download music as well.
