Observations about Win10

I have used win phone for a while. 8, 8.1 and now a 640 with 10. I also use an iPhone and have a Blackberry. I installed win 10 desktop at work to test it. So, I really am not stranger to this.

Windows 10 mobile is no way ready for prime time. There are way too many things that do not work right or at all. With maybe two months until it's released, there is no way Microsoft can get this right for all phones in that time. For instance, I added an micro sd card (128) yesterday, to the phone. I copied all my music (45Gb) to the card from a desktop. Restart the phone and let it sit overnight. Today, it will not load all the music in the new music app. Maybe 10% of it. Then it starts crashing the app, so I open it, it sits for 5 seconds and then closes. This is a card that was formatted in the phone before the copy.

This is just one thing. I could go on for a good number of items, but I don't want to get to long here. I just want to point out that, there is NO way this os will be ready for prime time in two months and function correctly. And if MS releases it not ready, they will cook themselves in public opinion of their os and they will not sell what they need. This os is a lot longer than two months from being able to compete with ios and android and if MS forces it, they will be stuck at their low user base. That's a prediction and comment. What do you think?

Isn't that obvious? It's called preview for a reason. I mean I get that you're angry that your phone doesn't work the way you want it to, but what are you going to do about it? We all know it doesn't work. And ofc, even Microsoft knows that. I'm sure they're not waiting for you to tell them that their OS is buggy, they know that, and they will fix it. Maybe they even fixed it already, nobody knows, so just chill and wait. We'll probably have a new build next week. As for your SD card, I'm not sure if the 640 can handle 128 GBs. After all that's quite a lot of data, and even PCs struggle when you have a big media library.

128 worked just fine on 8.1.

And I understand it's preview. I get that. I expect things to not work right. My observation is that this is way beyond being fixable and "right" to take on android and ios in 2 months time. If MS releases this not ready for prime time in the November time frame, they will release this not ready to compete and it will spell doom for them in the user base...beyond the dedicated fans. Again, I'm just stating my opinion here. Again, I have an iPhone that's had ios 9 on it for a while and yes, it has issues and had them, but it's not in the state win 10 is in at this point. And yes, I understand it's closer to release than win 10, but MS has been at this for a long time with 10. This OS should be a lot closer at this point in time than it is.

And no, I'm not angry my phone doesn't work correctly. If I was, it's real easy to move back to 8.1.

I agree, it really feels like they don't care. And it could even be true, it's a known thing that MS barely earns any money from phones (atleast compared to other things like Windows and Office), so they don't have to care too much. But still, I think MS knows what to do, they will fix it, and it will work. Maybe not perfectly, but good enough.
Also, you're talkin as if that must not happen or else the world will end. Yeah, I also wouldn't like WP losing 'the race', and I'd like it to become the best OS out there. But if it doesn't, then just let it go, it's just an OS.

Good comments guys.
Also remember what you see may be far behind what Microsoft is working on. Meaning they may already have fixes in place that just haven't made it to the public yet. I don't recall the release cycle, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was 100 internal releases before a public release.

it is indeed a worry for insiders that even before almost 2 months away from release, there are still so many issues. has anyone noticed in the latest build that no 3rd party photo apps can load any picture from your library?
