Storage not enough, how to fix it?

I'm using Lumia 540 WP10 build 10581. 10586 just aired and I wanted to download it. While downloading, my phone went off randomly. When I rebooted my phone and checked the update, it now tells me that I do not have enough space in storage. I went to storage options, my SD card has still 3gb of space as well as my device storage. I also cant choose where to place my downloads since the drop-down options in the storage menu seems to have a bug. I cant install update 10586. What should I do?

Run the backup on your phone and then perform a hard reset, that should clear out the excess pre-installation clutter.
