Missing cortana

Where are you in the world? It's not available everywhere. Look it up to see if it's available in your country.

If it is check settings, applications and Cortana.

Search how to enable Cortana in India on Bing and when u get the windows central article for it then follow the instructions you may have to restart ur phone a couple of times but in the end you will get the Cortana Alpha for India

The older phones (Lumia 925) and some of the newer phones (Lumia 530) do have Cortana show in the app list even after setting it completely for India (language set to English, India) so not sure why it won't be listed on your app list. Regardless as suggested, search for instructions and you should be fine.
