Has anyone else noticed that apps moved to/install on an SD card are bloated?

Has anyone else noticed that apps moved to/install on an SD card are bloated compared to when the are originally installed on internal storage?

For example I noticed that Ariel's World was 279 MB in internal storage, but 1.19 GB when moved to, or installed on, the SD card. Even when moved back to internal storage it was 1.19 GB. Though uninstalling/reinstalling on internal storage got it back to 279 MB. (That is over 4 times the size.)

This isn't limited to this one app, lots of apps suffer from this problem.

I noticed that the size of my Mail and Calendar is huge now - 4.59 GBs and I am very nearly running out of space on the device as this app can't be moved to the sd card. How can one manage the size of this app either on the phone or on the pc?

Have you tried setting it to download/cache mail for a shorter period of time?
