Hey guys/girls just want to see if use can help with me picking up a good Windows 10 Laptop for my son for Xmas.

He loves to game, watch movies, listen to music etc everything a normal 8yr old kid loves doing.

Is there anything out there that would best suit him?

I've looked at numerous laptops lenovo, asus, hp & acer as possible purchases but when it comes to picking one I'm not sure what specs will suit?

I would like it to be atleast an i3 or i5 or processer or AMD equivalent and for it to have good memory.

So if any real tech heads can point me in the right direction for a good decent laptop i would be most grateful.

    Thanks, Marty :-)

Going with your general guide I would suggest the best i5 you can get your hands on.

Something like this - ASUS X555LA 15.6" Laptop - Black Deals | PC World

It's pretty much a good all rounder. You didn't mention which games but as long as they're not too intensive then this should suit.

Most laptops can't manage high end games so keep that in mind but at least with an i5 you get some power for most situations.

The 8 GB of RAM and 1 TB of space is also good at this price point.

If battery life is an issue then you'll be looking at the latest generation of Intel processors but that would mean dropping to an i3 which may not be the best thing.

Also even though I own a AMD laptop I find it not that great. Stick to Intel.

I actually have looked at the Asus you have linked in the post N_LaRUE i like the look of it and the spec it has and out of other brands I've looked at this seems to be the one that was getting the nod over other laptops in regards to reviews. I'm near sure there is a Broadwell chip in this laptop?

My son would play minecraft and a lot of simulator games etc.

    It's a Broadwell processor, 5th generation.

I did a quick check and it appears to be able to run Minecraft but the processor will get a good workout.

Assume the same for any other simulator.

Adjustment to the settings will probably help things out some but that sounds typical of any laptop running a lot of graphics.

Thanks a lot for the info this will help me in regards to choosing the right Laptop in the coming days.

See the intel processers i3/i5/i7 & A6/A8/A10 amd proccesers is there that big a difference? Or do they match each other in performance for the most part?

Here's a good website to do a comparison on CPUs.

    CPUBoss

Generally Intel does better than AMD. AMD has always been noted for being a good overclocking CPU but you technically don't want to do that with a laptop.

The scores may not be significantly different but it may be enough to warrant the investment in Intel.
