Windows 10 S mode

So my surface go couldn't install an update. And it turns out the tech support at Microsoft knows very little about S mode and there is no real work around to fix these things without losing S mode. Anyone else have similar issues?

Which update? Have you ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter? Settings------>Update & Security------>Troubleshoot-------> Windows Update
