Corrupt file error opening Excel docs in Outlook

I've been having an issue opening a lot of older versions of Excel files received within Outlook 2016 (O365) on my Windows 10 Lenovo X1 Carbon. The workaround for this is to save the file to your HD, go into the files properties and check "unblock". The file will then open. Anyone find out the cause of this yet and a permanent fix? I've already run repair on Office.

I found a better fix for this issue. Disable Protected View for Outlook Attachments
