Issues with in-browser authentication hotspots?

Hey everyone!

So my school deploys internet via an unsecured Wi-Fi hotspot with in-browser authentication.

I've noticed that it will connect fine and stay connected for a while, but then after stop using it and then try to wake it up again it won't connect (even if I go to WiFi settings and manually connect).

What is even more strange is that I tried creating a Wi-Fi connection from my MacBook via Internet Sharing and even that won't connect (after it fails to connect back to the campus wifi)!

Everything only works when I do a soft reset. It's really annoying to soft-reset the phone 4 times a day!

I've tried formatting it and the problem still exists. I have another friend on campus that has a Focus Flash and he is also experiencing the same issue.

Any thoughts? Is there something else I can do besides soft-resetting to get my Wi-Fi working??

Thanks for reading :)

Does it give you an error when connecting, or does it connect but not work?

After a while it gives me an error that it is unable to connect.

Yes I have cookies enabled :)

Thanks for all the replies!

Sounds like a bug for sure. If it was letting you connect but not working I would suspect cookies or history files, but not if the wifi won't connect at all.

I don't have the ability to test, but I guess I would suggest calling support... unfortunately.

Yeah it seems as if my issue is specific and not that common. I'll be sure to ask my campus IT if they can do anything and I'll be sure to email Microsoft about the issue.

Thanks for your help everyone, I'll keep you all informed! :)

I have exactly the same problem with an hotspot which needs the authentication via browser. I have to insert the password every time that my Lumia finds the hotspot because it tells my intervention is required. Have you solved the problem?
