- I doubt it. Tmo is the only one I know who has WiFi calling and it requires hardware support for it. The only other wp8 devices on Tmo are the 8x and 810. The 8x = dito, and the 810 when I googled it, doesn't have compatible hardware (that, with unsupported lte update and cost is probably why it eol-ed btw).
So seems unlikely.
Kind of cool though. First WiFi calling Windows Phone on TMobile.- Share

- Important: A master reset is required:
•After completing the update, you will be required to complete a master reset to add the Wi-Fi calling feature.
•It is recommended you back up your device settings, applications, and text messages through your Microsoft account and photos through SkyDrive.
•See also: Back up device data
There goes all that time setting up my phone...
I can do w/o wi-fi calling.

That's why I said "ditto". I am unsure.05-09-2013 03:13 PMLike 0 - I saw that, but then you said Lumia 521 was the first WP on T-Mobile with Wi-Fi calling so I got confused.
I read a comment on the Lumia 521 Wi-Fi calling article on Tmonews that said the 8X has had the update since March, IIRC.05-09-2013 05:26 PMLike 0 -
) said that they wish their 8x had wifi calling
I said first, because, as far as I know, no other WP device has had wifi calling.05-09-2013 05:39 PMLike 0 -

TM9190 micro SIM seems to be the required sim, and just like the 521, apparently you need a full reset (what is it with having to reset? Is it not installing the app without reset? {system apps are restored with reset, so I suppose if it stores the app within the system, the reset would install it.). Maybe this is why a number of people don't have it?05-09-2013 05:56 PMLike 0 - how about that. Hm. I guess some 8x owners just don't know about it... (ive seen posts from them here and then about this.).

Its like 1/2 of T-Mobile doesn't know it exists.05-09-2013 06:25 PMLike 0

Well at least they're giving us Wi-Fi calling... even if they don't announce it. Better than T-Mobile ignoring us and not having it at all.05-09-2013 06:39 PMLike 0 -
The 521 seems to have more public knowledge about it (The press release detailing the 521's arrival @ T-Mobile stores on the 22nd mentions the update as well). Though if it still requires the tedious process, it wont make sense.
They should just add the IMS app to the store (of course within their carrier collection as so no one outside T-Mobile can download it), and allow users to activate it with a reboot. A full reset seems to make utterly no sense unless its for installing default system apps to which IMS would be added.05-10-2013 03:01 PMLike 0 - I flashed it. Curious if anything else came with the update. Nope. Just Wifi calling. And the stupid backup didn't complete at 97% due to being on 2G (cant friggin use wifi during setup!) so I have missing apps. I got most of them, but some are missing and the windowsphone.com site is being faulty in listing purchased apps (Market Refresh appears like 20 times).
Also, contacts didn't sync right :(
Anyhoo, I have wifi calling now. seems ok, though it failed earlier on the park wifi (but then again, it was only getting .6Mbps according to the speedtest.net app)
Also, some of the system apps are outdated &/or missing in this firmware version. Just one or two (had to manually install drive. The icon took me to the marketplace)
Most everything seems fixable using sync. But it wasn't worth the reset.05-18-2013 04:42 PMLike 0 -
- If I pass on this update for wi-fi calling because I don't really need it and do not want to go through the reset hassle, will it effect any future firmware updates and their ability to improve my device?
...And you probably answered this aleady and I apologize if you did, but is this just a wi-fi calling update or are there other features/improvements in the update too?05-19-2013 01:05 PMLike 0 - If I pass on this update for wi-fi calling because I don't really need it and do not want to go through the reset hassle, will it effect any future firmware updates and their ability to improve my device?

Don't worry though, you wont have to reset after update. That's only if you want to install wifi calling (which from the looks of it, the reset is because T-Mobile hasn't put the app in the Windows Store for wifi calling, so you have to reset the phone to re-install all stock applications, including the newly added WiFi calling app. Stupid, I know. If there is any other reason, I wish T-Mobile would explain.)
And from what I can tell, there is nothing else but wifi calling. Though it is a tad zippier (just a tad), but that may be because the "other memory" was cleared along with temp files after reset, and now my other memory and temp memory equal (after app installation and web browsing) less then half of what they were originally.05-19-2013 09:17 PMLike 0
