I have a Lumia 920 and 2520. Happy with both devices.

On screen keyboard on Windows Phone 8 seems lot more intelligent showing up only when cursor is on a text field. On 2520, I have to manually open and close keyboard and it?s very annoying. Does anyone know of alternate configuration which can mimic Windows Phone 8 keyboard i.e. show up and close only when cursor is on text field?

Thanks

Use touch, and tap on the text field. I believe there should be a option in PC Settings that will automatically make this occur.

In desktop mode the keyboard doesn't automatically appear. In the Modern UI apps it does.

There are a number of these annoyances and disconnects between WP8 and Win8/8.1. Can't wait for them to merge. It should be more consistent across the ecosystem.

Many times I don't really prefer the way one does over the other, just be fricking consistent!

As GizmoEV points out, there are 2 versions of Internet Explorer. On the version run from the desktop, you have to manually open the keyboard. On the metro version run from the start screen, it is automatic.
