W10 and games crashing

Hey all,

Since I'm on the build 10041, nearly all my games crash after like 15-20 min, and then it's occuring faster and faster to the point it crashes after 5 seconds.
The worse is maybe in SWTOR.
I don't think it's graphic related since I tried like 3 or 4 different geforce driver.

Any of you have the same problems or, let's be crazy, even maybe have a solution ?

Haven't had any problems so far and i'm a heavy Steam user with a GTX 670 and the latest GeForce driver. Wish I had suggestions :(.

If the problem is that bad you may need to roll back to 8.1. I was worried about the exact same thing since my PC is my primary gaming platform but so far i haven't encountered any major gaming problems (although a couple emulators I run have developed quirks, but they're still usable).

I'm having the same issue. Sometimes the gam freezes, sometimes the entire computer freezes while playing. It also seems to happen more when I have 2 things at full screen.

All my games run just fine with 10041, except Ghost Recon Phantoms.

SWTOR? Are you talking about "Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic"? That one runs fine.

No, I'm talking about Star Wars The Old Republic

Anyway, since then I've tried to run the directx runtime from june 2010 >> didnt solve the problem.

Tried to run it with compatibility for win 8 and win 7 >> didnt work

I'm at a loss here

Try stoping the DiagTrack service. I tried to run Watch_dogs and it complained I had a debugger running and I solved it stopping that service.

Not sure if attributed or not, but I changed the start-up command for Cities: Skyline to use DX9 instead of 11, and I was able to play it for hours without crashing. I need to double check with viewing of other video sources (which promptly causes a crash) to confirm.

Oh man, so sad. I was playing that for hooours, my city was doing incredible and then it crashed, it was then I realized I forgot to save. Damn me -.-

It's clearly a memory leak, I've set all setting to low and it takes much longer for the game to crash.

The 10041 build must have gone too far and broke a compatibility with the SWTOR engine.

I guess the graphics subsystem is not finished yet (or at least in a late build), They said Media features would be noted later, maybe this comes as part of it ?

A memory leak could be possible. My Cities: Skyline gets up to 3gb of RAM usage. But it holds steady there, and my total system RAM consumption never gets above 60%. As someone else said, it could be they haven't finished their graphics subsystem and there are some quirks still.

I may have identified another potential cause.

I tried turning off Hyperthreading and the game was crashing like 10 seconds after playing.

It may have to do with the way threads are handled

Thought I'd reply back since playing more games on Steam. Most of what I've been playing works, but since the update I've noticed a few games that ran fine on Windows 8.1 no longer do.

Thief locks up the moment it finishes loading a level; I can't play it at all. Hitman:Absolution plays fine for about an hour and then the game just all of a sudden starts running at like 5fps and I have to force close it and re-open the game. Metal Gear: Re-vengeance still runs flawlessly. Dragon Age: Inquisition runs perfectly fine as well (although my loading times have taken a noticeable hit for some reason). All games are being run on Ultra settings.

But yeah, there are definitely bugs. Your mileage may vary until we get more stable releases I guess :(. I can't pinpoint anything either, but Aki44 seems to be on the right track. I can't think any any reason why Hitman would suddenly become unstable after about an hours playtime if memory wasn't leaking.

I reverted back to 9926 last night, though there's been some report that todays patches fixed the problem.
Anyone able to confirm it ?

I tried Cities: Skyline today and also played full screen youtube on my other monitor. This was constantly crashing before, but now I could play for 4 hours and not a single crash. I think the patch fixed the gaming issues.

Just a quick update about the stability of build 10041. This week end, windows forced me to upgrade to 10041.
I thought, well, I'll try with the new updates. Well, after 30 seconds, CTD
Back to 9926 for the moment
