Can I put a new computer on Windows 10 Insider?

So I have been having way too many problems with the old test computer I have. The Ramdisk error won't even allow me to do a rollback, and frankly - I have neither the time nor patience to deal with it anymore.

I am going to pick up a newer desktop - maybe something refurbished, but would still like to stay on the insider program.

This new computer will have a licensed copy of Windows, can I still upgrade it to the insider program? I know that Microsoft is no longer handing out "installation keys" for Windows 10 insider. But can you "upgrade" to the insider program?

I believe you can turn it on in the settings now.

Yes, if the computer you get doesn't already have Windows 10, get the free upgrade first and activate it. Then go to Settings/Update & security/Advanced Options. Here you can set it up to Get Insider builds.

Picked up a great deal on an open box Dell I5 at Microcenter with Windows 7 Pro.

Let's see how long it takes to get Windows 10 downloaded and setup!

Long evening... Out of the box computer with a fresh Windows 7 Pro install to Windows 10 with all my preferences set and working.

Turned on insider updates and received 10532 - very happy I finally retired that old computer.

I was sure tempted to pick up one of the curved ultrawide monitors yesterday, but I restrained myself! :)
