Using Itunes music for ringtone on HTC Radar

I know that I cannot use any songs from Itunes but I did read somewhere that this can be done if I make it less than 30 seconds.

I also read that I can do it through Itunes. I tried but I dont seem to be able to do this. Instructions said to go into the info of the phone and change it to ringtone then sync. I did this but when I check its not there.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
