The screen of my 1020 just shattered and I will prefer to get a new one instead of fixing this, since the cost of the repair is high for a 2 year old phone
I am browsing at the different options and it seems that there isn't a clear way to know what is the best current windows phone, I will appreciate any inputs
thanks

I'd say, go for low-end as of now and wait for new high end phones to come. Having said that, 640XL is worth checking out.

If I had to buy one today, I'd a 1520 to replace my 920. However, I don't really want a 6" screen, so I'm waiting to see what comes out later this year.

The 735 is pretty good (lovely screen) if you want something that will plug the gap to the next high end. I would recommend the 930 but the battery life is not up to current standards really although it would do just fine I you are a light to medium user. My two cents...

I had the idea that the 640xl wasn't available yet

It's not. In the US at least. But you can order an unlocked one from a different country at expansys-usa.com. My 640XL is from China but you can change everything to US or whatever country you're from and it works perfectly fine!

The yellow 1520 I'm selling right now in the Marketplace. :)

Sounds good, but I use my phone for work purposes as well, and I just can't wait for a shippment from China, thanks for the advice, I am considering the 830

I'd say the 830... Has every single Lumia feature, with great build quality...

Lower specs, no 4k recording, and "hey Cortana" are simply the only things leaving the 830 beat by the 1520 & 930

Also the 640xl may be a great option if your into phablets

But then again a good condition used 1520 sells for around the exact same price as a brand new 830 or even 640xl these days

Thanks I am actually considering the 830, I will just miss the 1020 great camera, and its xenon flash,
what was that about the "hey cortana"?

"hey Cortana" is a Lumia feature, where Cortana can be activated hands free by simply saying the words "hey Cortana", instead of tapping the search button, but it is exclusive to devices with at least an snapdragon 800 processor leaving the 830 out... Also the 830 may have less megapixels, but alot of people say the 830 produces the same results as the 1520,930, or even 1020 just with less sharpness, due to less megapixels..

A lot of people will agree the 830,930 & 1520 cameras overall out due the 1020 camera, since its only edge is a massive amount of pixels creating a larger image, great for cropping.

The three I mentioned are in general the top Lumia Devices (1520,930,830) right now and apparently have improved camera tech over the 1020. I myself haven't owned a 1020, but I've played around with it in store before, and all my sayings are simply conclusions drawn from various reviews and camera comparisons around the web... So what I'm saying to you is pretty much just a gather of info, more than experience 😊

It's not a shipment from China. My order with Expansys USA came from Illinois. I paid for 1 day shipping and I got it the very next day.

But yeah, the 830 is a great phone as well. One of my all time favorite WP.

ricardo I guess it all depends on what you want out of the phone and how quickly you think you may upgrade.
Since you had the 1020, I will assume pictures are important to you. SO then replace it with something that caters to picture quality. I personally had the 1520 which is a beast but way to big and now have the 830 and think it is the perfect mix of portability and power plus a great camera.
