Delete Email on Phone But Leave on Server?

I've read a number of old posts about this issue & just wondered if anything has changed? I've got 8.1 and when I delete an email on my phone it also deletes it from my server.

I want to leave a copy on the server - I just want them gone from my phone. Anyway way to do this yet (besides using the Outlook app?

In answer to "has anything changed?". No, and it won't because the IMAP standard is based on there being only one master source for your mail items, which is on the server. Your device simply shows you a list of items that are on the server. Full stop.
However, I guess you're mainly concerned with your inbox for your question - a solution would be to create some other folders, and when you want to "delete" am item from your phone, move it to another folder on the server so you no longer see it.
