Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
If anyone has successfully unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 (preferably Rogers Nokia Lumia 920, 45/2012 and up) through a 3rd party source please post here. Am dying to find to find out. I have a L920 45/2012 from Rogers that am dying to use it on Wind and so far am not hearing any success stories. I've tried twice so far but got refunded each time so please post here if there has been any success. Am pretty sure there are many others who are in my position.
I will try again before the week is out and let everyone know what's the verdict.

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
Yes, some folks have successfully unlocked their Rogers 920 through cellunlocker.net. However, not all the Rogers 920's can be unlocked as not all IMEI's have shown up in the database. From the information at hand, it seems that only some of the 44/2012 week builds have been unlocked. I've been told that more IMEI's will be added to their database in the next week or so.

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
The mods should sticky this thread and have people post:
-which batch their phone is (i.e. 44/2012, 45/2012 etc)
-which third party sites they tried
-what date they tried to unlock
-what the result was

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
I am currently in the process of trying to unlock my phone from Cellunlocker.net for my UK Orange PAYG phone. I don't know what batch my phone is or how to tell you that but I phoned around every unlocking shop in my area and tried every unlocking site I could find online and only Cellunlocker, another site with a very similar name I forget or Mobileunlocked.co.uk claimed to be able to unlock the phone on the 9/10th of November when I first was looking and got my phone. I decided to use Cellunlocker, as it was the cheapest at the time (cost me £25 and they're not charging nearly £40 for the same phone) compared to the £55 Mobileunlocked.co.uk wanted. I figured that if it went wrong or they couldn't unlock it I could always get my money back through paypal. Also Cellunlocker said they could do it within 3-10 business days whereas the other one said 4-18 business days.
I've repeatedly emailed them over the intervening time and they've reassured me that they are able to unlock the phone and I am due to receive my code today. I'll post back in here when I know more. The website stresses the 3-10 business day thing isn't a hard and fast rule (I believe the 10th day was actually yesterday) but I'm anxious to put my 3 sim in this 920 just like anyone else and I'll let you know when I know more!
EDIT: Just received this mail;
Hi there,Thank you very much for your patience. Unfortunately there's been delay with our manufacturer due to high volume of order for these models. However we are trying our best to rush this order for you, the results will be returning shortly later this week, or next at the week at the latest.
So it seems like I'll have to wait until tomorrow or Monday to get my code. Grr!

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
Hello, I purchased my phone through phones4u UK which was meant to be sim free, the problem i have now is i love the phone too much so i cannot return it. I currently have a sim only deal with o2 and want to use an o2 sim which obviously doesnt work. If i was to use the website you stated above what carrier would i choose? Any help would be appriciated... Also are there any success stories of people using phone4u lumia 920 on networks other that EE/orange/t-mobile??
Thank You
yus
-
As far as I'm aware if O2 isn't on that sites list currently you would have to wait til it is, which I wouldn't expect to be long at all. I have heard of people using Virgin Media Sims as they use the EE back end but nothing other than that.

You would have to use Orange as the carrier it's locked to.

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
Thanks for the reply, just one other question, i had a sim free lumia 800 that had a nokia network setup app. Cant seem to find it on the 920?
the app was for using sim cards from other networks it would auto setup with the networks settings.

Awaiting positive response from Mobileunlocked. While they don't accept new unlock requests for now pending IMEI's will be resend to the unlock dB(?)

On your ATT Lumia 920 phone
Go to setting, scroll down to about Window Phone, then more info and you'll get your IMEI number.

You left out the * at the beginning of the sequence from their site. Works fine on my AT&T 920. Put a * in front of the sequence you just noted.

Same. I just got email, they can't find the unlock code of my IMEI
-
Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
Well after waiting over 2 weeks and having confirmed my IMEI number a number of times Cellunlocket.net said they were checking an 'alternative database'. I just got an email to say they cannot unlock the phone and have refunded me. I honestly can't find out how to unlock this phone, which is becoming a pain as at the moment its basically a very expensive paperweight stuck to a PAYG sim. Does anyone have anyone that they have managed to unlock the phone with at all?!

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
Man, am having the same problem. Like I'm using the most ******ed phone as a replacement phone for quite some months now since my Radar died (R.I.P) and now that I got the phone that I was so anxiously waiting on I cant use it as my daily phone because I cant get it unlocked. Hopefully this week something happens or else I will go crazy!!!

RE: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
Ok so I just got my unlock code from unlock.canadagsm.ca it cost me 29 plus tax. Haven't tried it yet but when I do I will confirm. Quite happy at this moment.

From the Rogers plus store at Eaton. I first had a build 45/2012 but I returned it because it had a vibrating rattling noise which this build (46/2012) still has.

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
is vibrating issue common?
the 920 from at&t i purchased seems to not vibrate correctly.... also has the yellowish tint for capacitive keys...
now with there almost being no hope of getting my at&t version unlocked anytime soon, im wondering if i should just return it for a full refund :(
-
Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
I bought 2 920s from Rogers and are 46/2012 builds.
One was quickly unlocked from cellunlocker.net and the other I got a refund after about 2 hours saying they couldn't do it.
I then tried unlock.canadagsm.ca on Friday night and still waiting for a code. Hopefully I get the code soon :)
My phone also rattles when vibrating but it's really the only thing thats "wrong" about this phone so far.

Has anyone been able to find a third party outside Canada (or can i use a Canadian site to unlock an international phone?) I've scoured my local area and online and I haven't been able to find anywhere that say they can unlock the 920.
-
Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
I gave up trying to unlock it with a 3rd party and finally paid Rogers their $50 fee to get it unlocked. Took all of 20 minutes on the phone to get it done.

I purchased my device from Phones 4 U sim-free which of course means that its locked to EE, T-Mobile and Orange... I've got an Orange PAYG sim in it and having called Orange they won't unlock the device until the sim has been in it for 3 months and at that point they start the process which will take 20 business days (basically a month). I'm just trying to find a quicker solution.
-

Hey, they told me to confirm my IMEI after 2 weeks so they could check an alternative database. The next day they said they couldn't give me a code and refunded me the full price. I haven't been able to find anyone else that can do it. Might wait til other people pop up that have unlocked their phones.

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
well wish me luck, as i have tried the one recommended above mrunlock.com, to be honest i think they are going to say that they cannot do it and to try again in a few weeks. I just cannot believe the fiasco caused by the lumia 920 launch in the UK. Paid sim free price from phones4u and id expect it unlocked to all networks. I bought the phone before they started to mention it on the website and on twitter that it was locked. My own fault should of returned it when i had the chance but could not go through with it. Well heres to waiting...... LOL rant over for now ha.
Any other ideas people????????????

If anyone has success unlocking the AT&T USA Lumia 920, please tell me the details.
I am staring at a beautiful Brick that I cant do anything as I just have a T-Mobile SIM Card.
Also someone was saying that their phone is 46/2012 or 45/2012...What is this and how do we find it on the Phone?
Thanks.

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
My friend just bought another phone from Rogers and we successfully got it unlock from cellunlocker.net in under 2 hours.
This one was a 47/2012. So that's 1 for 2 46/2012 and 1 for 1 47/2012

I emailed them today and they said they can unlock them for £20 which is amazing value. They are based in Birmingham and seem to respond to their customers quickly. I don't know how long they take to unlock a phone but please please keep us updated if they can unlock your 920!!!

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
anyone that bought an at&t Lumia 920 with the hopes of getting it unlocked is going to be sadden... the at&t Lumia 920 will remain locked to at&t for the entire time it is exclusive to that network.
just google unlocking the lumia 900 and you can read the huge amount of failed attempts without success
-
Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
Yeah, I heard about the 900, which is why I'm not getting my hopes up. But it doesn't hurt to ask. I didn't buy a 920 yet, so if all else fails I'll just buy an international 920. Hopefully the price drops for Christmas...
-
Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
I had a 45/2012, 46/2012, and 47/2012 with Rogers in Edmonton.
None of the 3 were able to be unlocked by cellunlocker.net. mrunlock.com and unlock.canadagsm.ca failed with the 45/2012.
The 45/2012 was purchased from a Microsoft Store and the 46/2012 and 47/2012 were purchased from Tbooth.

Your order reference number is: *********
Unlock Code Unavailable
We have refunded your order in full. Please allow 3-4 working days to see cleared funds in your account.
Why?
Unfortunately the unlock code for your IMEI number:*********************** is not available.
This could be because the phone manufacturer has not yet added it to their database, it is an unsupported model, or you entered the IMEI incorrectly upon ordering.

Mr Unlock - unlocking mobile phones with phone unlock codes! Ah man that is unfortunate... sucks that they advertise that they can do it but then they actually can't ! Makes me hesitant to pay £54 to Unlock Frog upfront and having to wait days until they finally get back to me and say they can't unlock it....
-
Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
i am getting frustrated to be honest. The last resort would be unlockfrog with their method. But im pretty sure now that they all use the same database so i think im going to have to wait a little longer.. It maybe because of the phone i bought was from phones4u, and not ee/orange/t-mobile direct. Has anybody else tried?
-
Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
I did not try unlockfrog myself but when I send them a mail asking them about how they are doing it they told me it is actually a manual process which is why it takes 1-14 days, rather than just pulling a code out of a live database.
But yea paying £54 for that is too much of a gamble to be honest...

I've L920 on PAYG Orange using T-Mobile - They told to [WARN]select UK-EE[/WARN] as operator !!!
54 is not cheap (399+54(+10sim) still less then 520), and paid by PayPal (additional insurance).....

The main "turn off" for me is the expected delivery time of "up to" 14 days... for a premium of £54 I find that a bit unacceptable...
Please keep us posted on how quickly you get the code.

I gave unlockfrog a chance (and paid them the 80ish canadian to try), they emailed the next day to confirm my IMEI then refunded me the next day saying they couldn't unlock it, said to try again in a few weeks. Can anyone confirm how long it took for the 900 to go from release date to when unlock codes became available? Do I really have to wait the full 6 months?

Yup!

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
the Lumia 920 is only locked to carrier and without unlock codes (for now) in the US. AT&T paid for this right for 6 months. Only AT&T can authorize the release of unlock codes. Since this is a short exclusivity deal just wait it out. OR sell it off and buy an international 920 and get the unlock codes. Whatever you feel works better for you.

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
I had ordered an Unlock code on Friday but had to subsequently (try to) cancel the order as my Lumia 920 had some defects I wasn't happy with. Unfortunately this all happened during their out of office hours and today they sent me the code which I cannot try out anymore since the phone has been replaced. :(
I am currently trying to get this resolved, will keep you posted.

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
so got an unlock code from mobilefun.co.uk only for it to be the wrong one. The lumia phones have a code thats strictly numbers, no hashes, letters or stars. the code i got was similar to this format #pw+418636523456123+1# . Now have to wait for customer services to get back.

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
That code looks similar to the ones used to unlock the old S60 handsets

With all Nokia phones (apart from Lumia) you had to enter the following:
#PW+UNLOCKCODE+1#
To unlock your phone.
With the Lumia you only need to put in a non EE Sim Card and when prompted for a code type in 418636523456123
The code I received from UnlockFrog started with a 9 though so maybe the code itself is indeed wrong?
Might be worth a try though if you haven't tried it already.

I just unlocked using cellunlocker - it took about 2 weeks to get the code though.

Just enter the numbers - I got the same and tried just the numbers and it worked. When I say the numbers, I just entered the numbers in the middle of the + +.
In your example, that would be 418636523456123

Those who are saying they unlocked their phones.
What carrier are they locked to? At&t? Rogers?

I think the recent successes are from UK customers, correct me if I'm wrong?
It has been well documented that Rogers 920s are easily unlocked (by Rogers, for $50) - I'm one of them. Not sure about AT&T

You dont have to send the phone in. There is also the option to request code via email. Search under "View all unlocking services" on their main homepage

Re: Has Anyone Successfully Unlocked their Nokia Lumia 920 through 3rd Party Source?
My friend works for a mobile accessory business and gets me unlock codes for my clients. I have asked him to find me one and his first request came negative. Still waiting to hear back from him from his other search since he has several databases he can choose from.
This is also for a Rogers Lumina 920
