Am I the only one whose phone this update is turning into a flamethrower?

Installing the firmware update and my phone is FLAMING. Will it produce a coronal mass ejection when I update to Cyan?

Also my Verizon boot screen is now red instead of White, which is something I suppose.Seems Verizonier.

Same here, i think verizon released the firmware update because they finally noticed that DP8.1 users didn't receive it.

Just waiting for Cyan so i can hold my phone instead of holding it with an oven mit (thank goodness for that high sensitive screen)

I'm not sure if I have the update or what. My my Verizon boot screen is now red. Core build Id is 1028.3566.1417.10241 not the 1028.3566.1417.0047 as stated in the Verizon PDF. Anyone know the difference between 1028.3566.1417.10241 and 1028.3566.1417.0047. Thanks

After the newest 8.1 DP U1 it has yet to produce the fiery pits of hell simulation.

I notice my phone getting hotter and the battery decreasing in life.

Are you on the latest Developer preview?

Edit: Reading your past posts you need to do a Hard Reset, if you are on 8.1 the hard reset won't be painful as everything is backed up. You will see battery life stabilize after a week since it will evaluate your usage.

Unfortunately I'm only running WP8

That would be the reason you are having the issue, Microsoft patched this issue within 8.1 Update 1.

You should update to 8.1 as all the issue have been fixed with the OS, and Cyan will be release to those on it. (there is no harm in updating to the developer preview)
If you happen to want to wait for 8.1 then it will have to be an issue to deal with till Verizon releases the firmware update.

Edit: How to sign up for the developer preview http://www.windowscentral.com/how-sign-windows-phone-81-preview-developers

So I just get 8.1 DP and the battery life will increase and the excess heat will go away? I just was waiting to get DP until the Cyan issue was fixed.

Is there an amount of time until the flamethrower stops? I updated today and still have it.

Edit: I have all the current updates including GDR 1 and my phone still has battery drain (1% every 5-10 mins) and still gets hot. :(

It will take a little bit, not a whole day. Mine went away within minutes after the update. You will see battery life stabilize after a week or less since it will evaluate your usage. After you update your phone update the system apps with Sysapp pusher and shut down the phone then put it on the charger for a full charge. If none of the options work the last thing to try is a hard reset, since now you are on 8.1 it will save all the data (don't restore the back up when you do a hard reset)
