upgrade to 8.1 when not using AT&T?

is this possible? I got a barely used 1520 but I don't use AT&T directly, I used Net10 with an AT&T sim card. can you get it to 8.1?

if not, is it possible to get an AT&T gophone SIM and then get the upgrade and switch back to Net10 Sim?

You'll get the update when ATT releases it for the 1520, which it already has so just check for updates and you should be able to update it to 8.1, SIM does not affect updates

I just wasn't sure if the net10 ATT gets reported to ATT differently so it is truely an AT&T account pretty much just through net10 sorta i guess.

Well Net10 doesn't get reported to AT&T for anything, updates are tied to the phone's ROM version and not the SIM inside it
