So, from what i gather, MSFT is not releasing any Qi covers. What I know is that there are 4 prongs for accepting some form of wireless charging coil. Samsung has done various charging shells, and most recently, their note 4 has a 4 prong plus 1 layout.

I was wondering if anyone has tried something to make wireless charging work from the 3rd party realm?

I believe MS does not plan on releasing such a cover, but hey, maybe an inquisitive mind with a multimeter and an XL could do something.

I have a multimeter but no XL :p

Though I'm looking at buying one....W10 is peaking my interest, specially if it all comes together with teh X1

Guys - it's potentially possible to add Qi for just $16 with some minor modifications to the case - I'm about to attempt it with a receiver I got from Amazon using my 635.

Amazon.com: BLUBOON(TM) Universal Qi Wireless Charging Receiver Wireless Charger Receiver Film for Micro-usb of All Android Mobile (Narrow-interface Up): Cell Phones & Accessories

It looks like you need to make the hole in the bottom of the 635 cover slightly larger to accommodate the connector, but the receiver itself works like a charm - I just tested it .

I'll post pictures of the 635 when i'm done.

Ahh - that looks pretty cool - I am hoping to make mine look a little tidier with the contact sitting flush on the case - just a case of dremel it gradually :)

as an fyi, i tried this with a 635, and had a tough time getting it to work. it was finicky to get in the right place, and it constantly cut out. i don't know if i had a bad reciever or not, but I'm hesitant with these usb ones. they're relatively cheap, and i hope you have better luck then i did...

Anyone know how to read this diagram? It's for the wireless charging circuit on the 640XL. I've got a 2Pin 1020 shell and a 3Pin 925 shell. I think if I can figure out which of those four pins are the ones needed for QI charging I can run wires between the pins on the shells and the pins on the phone to test if it actually works.

I think the more appropriate one to test on would be a samsung galaxy note 4. these have 4 contacts(maybe 5?), but in a different space. what's sort of frustrating is those companies making the adapters could just release some. they don't really cost that much, so i would imagine they could just output a few and probably sell them.

From this thread: http://forums.windowscentral.com/nokia-lumia-1520/249859-2.htm
I know the 920 qi had 4 contacts, wc_det, wc_EN, gnd, 5v.

From the diagram above....
x3305 is the circuit ground
x3304 goes into an ic and looks like it is the charging circuit
x3303 is marked wc.det maybe charge detect
x3302 wc.en maybe enable

02 & 03 just have a bunch of diodes capacitors and resisters which appear to allow or stop current flow in certain directions.

I also have several 920 Qi charging circuits around. With just a little bit of guidance I'd be willing to test things out.

Hi everyone! I'm just wondering wether a galaxy s5 charging receiver would work with the 640xl?
If it needs just 2 pins to charge.
What do you think?

Anyone have any old Lumia 920's laying around?

Looks to me like the four pickups on the 640XL are mirrored on the 920 Qi charging coil

I have about 5 of them.

I had not thought of sacrificing the charging coils for a hack like this, but I am intrigued enough to think about trying it on my 1520.

Anyone have any old Lumia 920's laying around?
