Windows 10 Insider program

Now I'm kinda interested in Windows 10 mobile and I want to try out the insider program, now there are few things that bother me. I saw somewhere that Lumia 640 running the latest of version of 8.1 update 2, can get bricked instantly and therefore it is not safe to upgrade on the insider program. Now I really want to try out that adoring 10. Now has anyone installed the IP, and was it successful?

I'm running Windows 8.1 update 2
OS Version: 8.10.15148.160

Runs fine on my 640. But wait about 3 days until the next build comes out. Would be annoying to upgrade today only to then do it again.
