How can i get my Lumia 40XL updated to 4G ?

I own a Lumia 640XL and i would like to know when i will get OTA for 4G option.. Is it available in India or i need to change my phone?

640 XL in India is being sold in 2 types- 3G and 4G.
You don't need any OTA if your phone is a 4G model.

Does that mean a 3G variant cannot be updated to 4g unlike other lumia phones which got OTA update in 2015

4G requires specific hardware. If a phone does not have it out of the box then no update can get 4G on that phone. check the model of your phone to know that it has 4G LTE or not. (written on the box)
