Brightly lit buttons while charging

I have a new phone, a Lumia 930, and a charging stand on my bedside table.

The phone's buttons however are really brightly lit while the phone is charging. Any way of reducing this light?

I'm running a clock app on the screen at night. It's a compromise since there is no glance clock on this phone.

I'm also wondering if there's a way to not have the gadgets control panel start every time I pair the phone to the charging stand in order to start the clock app, but that is less crucial.

Are you on 8.1 or Windows 10 mobile? I think I remember seeing that something changed between the two versions when it comes to light brightness.

I'm on Windows 10 mobile. Upgraded right away when I got the phone so I don't know if it would have been different on 8.1
