how do i put a gmail account on a windows 8 w1 huawei

i am trying to use the google apps account and it says it is not set up to sync with mobile devices. Its telling me to go to service settings on my PC and to enable google sync, but i don't know how to do that. is there an easier way to do this on my phone? i also linked inboxes somehow by trying to add a gmail account twice, and it did not work each time. my mother gave me the phone, and she originally had yahoo. i am just trying to switch my account from yahoo to gmail.

AFAIK once you configure the phone with a particular ID, you cant swap the ID. You have to reset the device to factory default and start configuring from beginning to use your microsoft account enabled via google account.
