Phone wants to install tech preview without insider app!

Hi, I installed the insider app a while ago on my 930 trying to get gdr2 but uninstalled it shortly after I couldn't get it to work. Today my phone downloaded the tech preview and wants to install it which I don't want! How can I cancel this update because it says it will automatically install in a couple of days?! Cheers

Welcome to Windows Central Matthew,

The only way to prevent the install is to do a hard reset.
Or use the Windows Phone Recovery Tool.

I was afraid that would be the only option. What's to stop it happening again though? As I mentioned, I don't have the insider app installed!

Before you had the insider app installed and "enrolled" after that you uninstalled it but your phone was still "enrolled" for a W10 update. So uninstalling the app does not prevent the update to W10. (Why this is I do not know )
But after a hard reset your phone is not "enrolled" anymore. ( this morning I did it with one of my phones).
So to prevent it from happening again is do not install (or better said start) the insider app
(Furthermore in settings you can disable the automatic download of phone updates)
